Lessons I've Learned From A Cancer Warrior

I've known Vicky/Sassa just this year during her final stage of chemotherapy against Endometrial Cancer. I have heard her story from a friend who always share Sassa's post in Facebook but I didn't care that much because I had my own battle that time too, until I was able to read her post about bullying, she was bullied at the mall because she's bald (some of the bad effect of chemotherapy). Worst thing happened to her but she hold on, she shared it to me and I was surprised because I am a total stranger but she never hesitated to tell me her story. As an empath, I can feel her bubbliness and positivity despite her condition, it makes me feel positive too.

Earlier, I've mention that I have my own battles too, I feel so down that I almost wanted to commit suicide and leave everything behind, but her positivity towards life despite her condition made me realized that my pain is nothing compared to her pain. That I should be grateful of the things I have and the circumstances I was spared of, because if I were on her shoe I don't think I would make it.

So, she was cleared from Endometrial Cancer after her last cycle of chemotheraphy, unfortunately the cancer cells metastasized to her liver that's why she need to undergo another round of chemotherapy.

I really don't understand why it has to be that way, why CANCER exist, why cancer has to ruin some people's lives and dreams, I cannot comprehend why people have to suffer because of this dreadful disease.

It makes me feel sad and disappointed, but somehow these warriors are giving cancer a good fight, and they made me realize a lot of things.

•  The most precious thing in this world is how we spend quality time with our loved ones.

•  How important it is to FORGIVE AND FORGET, we are not going to live forever so let's not waste our time holding grudges.

•  Don't complain too much.

•  Stop worrying too much.

•  Learn to appreciate the things you already have.

•  Always be grateful and say THANK YOU a lot.

•  Say I LOVE YOU a lot.

•  Always speak positive and encouraging words because you dont know what every person you meet along the way is going through life.

•  Always tell the people you love how much you love them and how special they are to you.

•  Go out, hang out and catch up with your friends while you can.

•  Travel, explore the world, do the things you love while you can.

•  Fulfill your bucket list while you can.

•  Don't be afraid to speak your heart out while you can.

• Take care of your health and do not take anything for granted, even feeling a not so bothering pain in some parts of your body, never hesitate to consult your doctor. We have a public hospital (especially here in Cagayan de Oro) that offer free consultation and laboratory test.
